RF tags are quickly becoming small and affordable, so uses are becoming far
more diverse. The beauty of RF tagging is that you don't even have to know
where an item is to count or track it.
RF tags are particularly useful for high value items that move around.
Rental equipment, service items and vehicles will automatically register
themselves in and out as they are taken off the premises and returned. RF tags
have saved large amounts of money where large items are stored in yards where
they are difficult to count and/or locate.
RF tags are also used to track livestock, which moves around on its own and
can be difficult to tell from any other animal of the same type.
RF tags embedded in "house credit cards" are being used by some restaurants.
When a holder of one of these cards enters the restaurant, the host's screen
automatically pops up information on the customer, including things like
spouse's birthday date, and other important stuff before the customer is even
greeted (by name, of course).
