Object Databases![]() Home

Traditional databases are fine for storing text, numbers and dates, but today
there are many other data types we might want to store right along with the
traditional data types. An Object Database can store document images,
photographs, sounds, music, and anything else we have learned to digitize, and
provide ways to sort and select them (sorry, we don't have a way to digitize
smells, yet, never mind play them back).
One thing - when you start storing stuff like this in your name and address file, you'd better plan on some significant data storage space. See Network Attached Storage and CD Towers and Jukeboxes. |
