Label software provided for bar-coding is usually very flexible and can make labels of all sorts and sizes, with and without bar-codes. Such software can usually do part number look-ups in a database, automatically increment serial numbers and insert the proper date. Images, such as company logo, can also be incorporated into the labels. The possibilities are endless.

Label stock is available in many types, including "destructable" which can't be removed without destroying them, and weather resistant.
