A little over a year ago, someone in an Internet news group proposed a
grass-roots gathering of OS/2 users and vendors in an Internet newsgroup.
The idea was taken up by others, who named it Warpstock, promoted,
produced and executed in just a few months. Despite the short notice it was
well attended and highly successful. Vendors who attended and put up displays
reported they actually made a profit on the show.
The show was held at the AQMD's palatial digs in Southern California.
Automation Access' Andrew Grygus attended, and even IBM had a team showing
WSOD (WorkSpace On Demand).
So great was the success of Warpstock 97, planning immediately started for
Warpstock 98, which is to be held in Chicago this month. Vendors will be
attending from as far away as Germany.
