Campaign against Lotus' cc:Mail implied year 2000 compliance that was, in fact, not there.

"It's 1900. Do you know where your email is?" That was the point of a major Microsoft advertising campaign aimed at Lotus cc:Mail, which was, at the time, admittedly not Y2K compliant. Microsoft urged cc:Mail users to switch to Microsoft Mail before it was too late.

Now, with cc:Mail long Y2K compliant, Microsoft has issued a bulletin urging Microsoft Mail users to upgrade to Microsoft Exchange or download and apply extensive patches because Microsoft Mail is not Y2K compliant. Those who trusted Microsoft and switched must feel pretty dumb today. See www.microsoft.com for details.
